Frequently asked questions

When should I switch to winter tyres?

The German rule of thumb is “O bis O”: from October to Easter. By law, tyres with the Alpine symbol are required whenever roads are wintry – with ice, snow or slush.

How much tread does my tyre need?

The legal minimum in Germany is 1.6 mm. For safety in the wet and snow, experts recommend considerably more: about 3 mm for summer and 4 mm for winter tyres.

Are all-season tyres worth it?

For many drivers in mild regions with low mileage, yes: you save the change. If you drive a lot or often in snow and mountains, separate summer and winter tyres are usually the better choice. We're happy to advise you.
